HEY HEY HEY GUYS!
Consider yourself lucky that you got this e-mail so soon! I should be
studying for one of my midterms tomorrow at 7:30a.m. (you all say OH, HOW
FUN!) and also starting my paper due tomorrow as well! But I guess this just
shows that I am such a procrastinator when it comes to school! But as long as
I get it finished on time, that's all that counts! Alright, we had a short
and simple meeting tonight! Same place, same time next week! For those
members who are thinking about joining the club, try to make it to a meeting!
They can be someone interesting! :-p Ok, enough stalling! I will talk to you
all soon! We have banquet info! YAH YAH, read below! Hope you are all doing
well, and had a good Monday! The rest of the week can only get better.....

I. Call to Order: 7:08
II. Welcome / Introductions:
-Gene Michel from the Suburban Kiwains Club
-Al Miller from the Santa Rosa Kiwains Club
III. Reports:
- Inter Club Council: Nothing new to report.
- Campus Activities Board: Nothing new to report
- Banquet Committee: YEAH! I personally want to thank GardNICK Mensill
and Rachael Smith for going out and getting the banquet info all cleared up!

IV. Old Business:
-Interface shelter: Thanks to Renee and Amber who showed up! Amber teased
us about all of the food, and mentioned that there was too much work for so
little people! Next time, let's all try and get out there! Thanks again you
two! You are awesome!
V. New Business:
-SOCIAL: This FRIDAY! More details on that later, if you want to come,
let us know and we'll give ya a call!
-National Youth Service Day: (Sat. April 27th) Eric let us know about the
project this Sat from 9am-1pm. It will be in Railroad Square and is being
sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County. There will be FOOD
there, that should of got a few of the guys attention, so if you want more
info, e-mail me back! I looked for a web site, and if you want to, check

-Spring Training Conference: (Sat. May 4th) If you want to know more
about how to become an awesome club officer, and great CKI member, you should
attend! Its at UC Davis this year. We will be leaving at 7:00 a.m. and
returning late in the afternoon! We will be carpooling, and eating lunch
there, and learning about the organization we all love so much! So e-mail us
to sign up!
-ALSO ON MAY 4th: The Kiwanis DCM. If you want to go to an event for a
half day, and see how the Kiwanis DCM's are run, you are more than welcome to
join me on the 4th! E-mail me if you want to come!
-Day Under the Oaks: (Sunday, May 5th) Volunteering: We need $$ Counters
which start at 12 noon to 5pm. We are also looking for some gutsy people to
be awesome tour guides! Or we can find something else for you to do! Tell us
if you can participate any time during the day!
-Human Race: (May 11th) It looks like we have 2 volunteers and a few
runners, so that should be interesting! If you weren't able to come to the
meeting and want to help out with the Human Race, let us know! There is still
time!
-Rose Parade: (Sat. May 18th) @ 7a.m.-2pm in downtown SR. We will be
getting a free lunch, as well as an awesome stylish T-Shirt! Dress for hot
weather (usually)! Its a lot of fun, and we need many more volunteers! So
please e-mail us if you are interested in volunteering! And if you already
signed up, remember the deal! If you aren't there, I'll come and get ya!
-Bear Cub Bash: Alrighty! I know you have all been waiting to hear about
the "2nd Annual Bear Cub Bash". Here's the info:

members, their family as well as Kiwanians and their family and our fellow

標hy: To see everyone, have a good time, (GET AN INTERCLUB KIWANIANS!!!!) say

more, SO PLEASE, PLEASE clear your calendars and try to make it! Ask other
Kiwanians how it was last year, and they should say it was a fun fun time!
But this time, we made sure to have a room! So we wont have to shout! :)
-Two Rock and Roll Fundraiser HAS BEEN SCRATCHED, and instead we will be
having another social! So the social will be either right after the banquet,
or the next day and we will be canoeing and having lots of fun for CKI'ers!

-Yeah! T-Shirts are now here, and have been here! So what are you waiting
for? If you want one, let us know! They come in all sizes (I think) so e-mail

-RENEE HOOD won a Senator Postion at the SRJC! Congrats Renee on a job
well done! Good Luck next year!
-Lobby Day: Tuesday, April 30th! We need to know ASAP if you are
interested in going with the school to the State Capital to lobby against the
proposed budget cuts on community colleges! We need all the help and support
we can get on this one! I went to Sacramento with Renee about a month ago to
talk to Gray Davis's Secretary, and other main important figures at our
capital to make sure we get the money for community colleges! And most of
all, ITS FREE and you get FREE LUNCH! They are leaving at 6:30am and getting

For those clubs, Kiwanis, Key or CKI who are having trouble finding events to
participate in and are just not having any luck, here are some ideas...
Help for the Hungry/Homeless
- Help cook and/or serve a meal at a homeless shelter
- Gather clothing from your neighbors and donate it to a local shelter
- Make "I Care" kits with combs, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc. for homeless
people
4. Help with repairs at a local homeless shelter
5. Make a care package with mittens, socks, t-shirts, long underwear, etc.
for a child at a homeless shelter
6. Collect grocery coupons to give a local food bank
7. If your community doesn't have a food bank, work with local officials to
start one
8. Pack and hand out food at a food shelf
9. Organize a neighborhood group to plant, tend and harvest a vegetable
garden
10. Donate the produce to a food shelf
Senior Citizens
- Adopt a "grandfriend"
- Visit a nursing home
- Rake leaves, shovel snow, clean gutters, or wash windows for a senior
citizens
4. Pick up medicine for an elderly person
5. Write your "grandfriend" a letter, or write letters for an elderly person
6. Go for a walk with a senior citizen in your community
7. Hold an afternoon dance for your local nursing home
8. Teach them your dances and ask them to teach you theirs
9. Deliver meals to homebound individuals
10. Offer to pick up groceries with/for a senior citizen
11. Help senior citizens in your neighborhood obtain and install locks or
smoke alarms
12. Teach a senior friend hot to use a computer or the Internet
13. Get a group together to sing or present a play at a nursing home
School Activities
- Paint a mural over graffiti
- Organize and invite local police officers to present a drug awareness or
bike safety assembly
3. Form volunteer teams for a campus safety escort service
4. Tutor a student that needs help learning English or some other subject
5. Organize a canned goods drive in conjunction with a school dance and
donate the goods to a food shelf
Neighborhood Enhancement
- Help neighbors paint and repair their homes
- Clean up a vacant lot
- Organize a campaign to raise money to purchase and install new playground
equipment in an area park
4. Campaign for additional lighting along poorly lighted streets
5. Paint a mural or clean up in a local park
6. Plant flowers in public areas that could use some color
For Those with Special Needs
- Volunteer to help at a Special Olympics event
- Set up a buddy system for kids with special needs at your school
- Raise money for Braille or large print books for the visually impaired
- Volunteer at an agency that works with emotionally disturbed children
- Read books or the newspaper on tape for visually impaired people
- Bring toys to children in the cancer ward of the a hospital
The Environment
- Plant a garden or tree where the whole neighborhood can enjoy it
- Set up a recycling system for your home and participate in your
neighborhood curbside recycling pick-up
3. Organize a carpooling campaign in your neighborhood to cut down or air
pollution
4. Adopt an acre of a rainforest
5. Clean up trash along a river or in a park
6. Create a habitat for wildlife
7. Create a campaign to encourage biking and walking
8. Test the health of the water in your local lakes, rivers, or streams
See, there are so many projects that you can take a part in! What are we
