I have always wondered if there was such a thing as an art gene
. Considering how many people in my family are involv ed in making art of one kind or another. That is how I came up with the name for this web site. It is an introduction to artists in my necular family and other relatives who are artists.
The site is still under construction. I have a lot of investigation and research ahead of me. Research is slow since my mom is the only one left in her family to interview. When the site is finished I plan to have current information on all the artists, biographies, sampels of their work, links to their web sights, galleries, shows and contact information.
My mother is a painter, my sister is a hair stylist and interior designer, my brother is a painter and ceramic artist and I am a pai nter. My father was very mechanical and had a gift for languages. He also enjoyed the ability to play music by ear and taught himself slide guitar and harmonica. He crafted things out of leather and wood.
According to my mother, her father was an engineer and he often made things out of wood, like tables, bowls and such. Her mother loved to crochet and made many intricate tablecloths, bedspreads and doilies, she was also a good seamstress. There is second cousin on my mother's side who was a stone sculptor, her name is Inez Marshall. There was also a painter named Grace Carpenter Hudson. These are just the few I know about at this time.
This is my immediate family from the oldest to the youngest.
