Guys welcome to a little of an insight of what a Halloween celebration in Mexico is about.

As probably most of you know, Mexico has a vast amount of ethnic diversity and celebrations are a big deal specially when they are religious related;and Halloween or The Day of the Dead is a big holiday in every part of Mexico, celebrated in different ways, but the basics are always the same.

What is an Offering Arch?

Offering Arch plays a big roll in this celebration , the following items are present in it:

Fruit

  1. Oranges
  2. Jicamas
  3. Apples
  4. All kinds of nuts
  5. Bananas
  6. Tangerines
  7. Sugar Cane

Special Food

Drinks

  1. Chocolate
  2. Coffe
  3. Mezcal
  4. Tequila
  5. Rompope

All this items are placed for the delight of our late love ones and people fix and design them in different ways to make it look nice.
So being a religious related holiday the place to set this offerings is an Altar where saints and Jesus images are on.

When and how long this Festivity is held?

Starts on Oct.31 by elaborating the Offering Arch before noon time to wait for the arrival of the infant dead members of the family to stay till noon of Nov. 1, to enjoy and feed from the offerings. After the infants are supposed to be gone all the oldest or adults are expected from noon to noon of Nov 2, but not before removing what was offered to the infants to bring to the Offering Arch what those adult spirits liked. Once the adults spirits are said to be gone everything that was placed in the Offering Arch would be collected to be taken to the cemetary along with flowers to be place on the late love ones graves. What about the offerings hah? You probably know what the answer is. You are right, they're eaten in the cemetary.

I am hoping to provide you some photos to back up what I wrote to you.
