There are lots of places to go dancing in the Bay Area and many Swing Dance Clubs. I will list them in the order of importance:
There are many kinds of dance. The kind of dance I do is called "West Coast Swing". It's a 6-count pattern done in a slot with a partner. It originated from the need for couples dancing on a crowded floor. It is derived from an earlier form of swing dance called "Lindy Hop". There are many other forms of swing, including East Coast Swing, Shag, and Carolina Shag. I also love to do Hustle, but that's a different dance altogether. There are many venues in the U.S. and internationally where swing dancing is taught and danced. There is a Lindy hop club in England. When there are national conventions, people come from all over the world to compete. The largest cities for dancing include L.A., New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, and Denver.
Dancing is for everyone! People are friendly, and dancers come in all shapes and sizes, so not to worry or be concerned. There's fun for all!
