Foster Children’s Give-a-Gift Program
Holiday Season 2007
The Sonoma County Medical Association Alliance Foundation is proud to have established its Foster Children’s Gift Program in 1953 in response to a need in our community. By coordinating directly with the Family, Youth and Children’s Division of Sonoma County, the Alliance has been able to provide an exact match of the present desired for Sonoma County youth in foster care. These are children who might otherwise not receive a holiday present.
Your gifts support children who enter the Foster Children system through the Sonoma County Human Services Department as a result of abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
They have been separated from their families during the holidays at no fault of their own. The only support they can rely on comes from the resources of the Human Services Department and from interested and productive citizens in our community.
The Give-a-Gift Program is expanding its outreach this year. As children reach the age of 18, they are emancipated from the state and moving on from the foster care system. Because their needs are more sophisticated as they mature and reach adulthood, we are hoping to supply the college-bound youth with computers. It is our hope that by having the necessary tools as they start college, they will be more likely to succeed.
