Our target market are physicians and/or specialists that need information on breastfeeding for their patients and breastfeeding mothers.
We were fortunate enough to have 100% feedback from the NAMI, Petaluma Recycling, and Roller Derby teams. There were a total of 9 individual testers.
Each team member was contacted via the class mailing list and were asked to complete the questionnaire attached.

Breast Feeding
Promotion of breast feeding
Promoting breast feeding
The site is about breast feeding and various resources regarding breast feeding.
Informative and welcoming.
Quiet, simple, soothing.
Calm
The site is extremely limited offering very little.
Helpful, positive, informative.
Calm, clean.
Calming and nurturing.
Very soothing and calm.
Calm, peaceful, babies
The overall tone and feel of the site is calm, clean, and informative.
The slide show drew my attention first. Then I read the text. I like the clean layout and color scheme. Colors fit the subject.
Welcoming, and not-confusing, but a tad bit clinical
Love the slideshow photos!
Nice photo slideshow
It was very clear what the site was about and the navigation was laid out in a very easy to use way.
Cute baby feet!
I liked it, but everything seemed to be centered on the page.
Seemed very simple but a bit boring. Everything is aligned center. Not visually interesting.
That it was about helping babies
The first impression of the opening screen was that the most interesting part of it was the slideshow.
Left to right, Breast feeding info, resources, calendar, about US
First link in navbar
Helpful Breastfeeding Info
Helpful Breastfeeding information
I just clicked through the different pages from the top navigation.
On the slideshow
Resources.
The first page I went to was Helpful Breastfeeding info.
Helpful Breast-feeding info
The link the majority of testers clicked on first was Helpful Breastfeeding Info.
Yes
Yes, very!
Yes
Yes, there are so few pages.
Yes! It was a delight to navigate!
yes
Yes
The navigation bar is too small and very hard to read. I went in and reset my monitor resolution to 1028 x 768…but it still seemed a little small. And on my machine there was a delay on the page upload…about 2 seconds.
Yes
The majority of testers found the site was easy to navigate.
Yes, easy to read and well laided out.
Yes. You have an uncomplicated site with tightly edited copy, so there is not much room for distraction. Photos on each apge livened it up.
Yes, pictures add interest. I also like the curvy header font.
1) The resources pages made me feel that I would have better luck on a Google search to find helpful resources. The brochures are exactly the same wording as your key page, Helpful Breastfeeding Info. 2) The Calendar page does not work since there is nothing happening. 3) The About Us page I thought was very odd. It has “mood” photos rather than people who run the organization. It also has a large logo (?) which does not appear anywhere else. There is no “about us text”. It lists representatives and planning members but does not say what they do.
If I was interested in breastfeeding, then sure!
yes
They were ok, not really a subject I’m into.
As I said above the home page is a little static but the other pages were more visually interesting.
It was all about the pictures. There isn’t much content. I wasn’t interested because it is no relevant to me right now. I did read the repeated box because I wanted to see why it was repeated.
The majority of testers found the pages interesting.
Color scheme works well, images all loaded quickly. Who doesn’t like pictures of babies?
Colors feel a bit “grownup” and older than I might have imagined. The blue-brown combo is well chosen but feels a bit too understated and mature for a topic that deals with such vibrant youthful life giving things.
The colors seems a little dull for the topic.
Very simple and tasteful.
Color scheme and images work very well together.
It was clean, calm, and professional.
I like the colors and the images were relative to the site.
The color scheme is very calming and the photo choices seem appropriate for the subject. I do question the picture of the dog and her pups…and on the same page, the logo doesn't look like it belongs there. Perhaps if it was the same height as the photos it would work better.
The blue is appropriate for the site. The breastfeeding images are tasteful. The images help you realize how small and dependant babies are upon family.
Most of the testers found the color scheme and images to be a bit dull but overall they worked well together.
The overall welcoming feel to the site and the ease of navigation.
The “quietness”
The photos.
The homepage
How clean and simple the navigation is.
It was plain and simple and easy to understand
The video’s from an outside links.
I like the color scheme and the simplicity of the layout.
Simple and not overwhelming. A parent in this situation looking for help would appreciate the calm, straight forward approach.
Most testers liked the simplicity of the site.
Any external links like the Stanford videos should open in a new window. This helps emphasize that the content is not part of your site.
If I was a new mother, I’d love more content and links to other sites or more tips. The resources page seems a bit short. (But your client may not have much more content, so take this with a grain of salt if that is the case)
Center the footer address line and make the text color easier to read.
Noted above.
Only thing I can find that I might change is on the About / Contact page, near the bottom, there is a large white space. That could be smaller.
Maybe a few slight differences in page layout.
Work on the spacing between paragraphs on the homepage. Center the info in the footer for the mailing address and e-mail.
Giving the home page a little more visual interest by restructuring the layout a bit. And enlarge the navigation at the top so it's easier to read. I might add a bottom navigation to the pages so you don't have to go back up to the top of the page to move to another page.
The long skinny repeating statement on the right-side of the photos is difficult to read due to the presentation. If it was that important that it was repeated, I would have given it a horizontal placement on one of the first couple of pages with larger font instead of repeating it.
Suggestions for improvement include adding more links to more resources, change layout of content and spacing between text, and sidebar information.
All links work fine. No apparent misspellings.
No-all looks good.
No
None that I noticed.
Nope, all looked great.
Everything was good, calendar took a long time
Didn’t see any.
I didn't notice any typos that jumped out at me. But the load time of the pages are a bit slow. Another suggestion is the video pages should open in a separate window so you don't leave the site
Okay, I am reading every word. You have a typo in the third statement under “reasons to call for help”. It says “feelings” instead of “feedings”. You have a second typo on the About Us page in the Special Thanks, the first word should be “A” instead of “The”. Need a capital “N” in Napa in the calendar entry.
All the links worked fine, there were a few typos found.
Yes
Yes
Yes
Very, very limited.
Definitely, more than I could ever want to know.
Lots of it.
Sure.
Yes…didn’t realize there was that much about the subject.
Yes, but as a mother who breast fed twins, I think there are a lot more questions it could have tried to address. Hopefully this is just the beginning. I would love to see a site like this link to actual answers instead of just phone numbers. So many people today are afraid to talk to any one and just want to find the answers online.
The majority of testers found that the site presented useful information about breastfeeding.
Yes
I did not find any links, just text info and phones.
Yes
The Stanford link is nice.
Yes.
Not links, but phone numbers
There was a list of organizations, but no links.
Yes
Not really any links, but a lot of phone numbers.
The testers were pretty much split down the middle with half finding the site provided links to organizations that assisted to a breastfeeding mother and the other half finding onl numbers but no links.
Yes. I clicked on an event and got the expected popup information bubble.
Yes-good use of google calendar
Yes, though there were very few events on the calendar.
No.
I did find the calendar, it took a really long time to load... and then there were no events listed?
Yup.
Yes, it seemed a little large, but maybe once it has stuff filled in, it will look better.
Yes and it was easy to read.
Yes, the calendar is clear and the entry very readable.
The majority of testers found the calendar and found that it was easy to read.
We plan on correcting any typos found on the site but will make very little changes to the site unless they are discussed with and agreed upon by our client.
We worked very hard to understand specifically what our client wanted and listened to their feedback while offering as much guidance as possible. Our client was very sure of what they wanted and what they wanted their site to look like and communicate to the target audience; we are positive that we delivered our clients' desires.
